A Bit about Our Director

Carol Couture has directed Community Kindergarten Of Methuen since 1979, which makes next year her 35th year of being the owner and director. She started out as a parent in search of a school for her daughter. During her search, she met Marie Didio who was the owner and director at the time.

Marie showed Carol the school, and the tour took two hours due to the warm, loving conversation they shared. Carol expressed her interest in working with children and that she would love to volunteer if Marie needed help. She went on to explain how she loved music, played guitar, and liked art and drawing.

From Parent to Director

Carol’s daughter started school in September, and by December, Carol was teaching music to the children on a weekly basis and teaching art to the kindergartners. She started out as a parent, became a volunteer, worked as a preschool teacher’s aide, and now is the director and owner of Community Kindergarten Of Methuen.

Carol's Educational Philosophy

Her educational philosophy for the private kindergarten is simple, “Live, Love, Learn & Grow,” which comes from Marie Didio. However, the four words are not a slogan or “just words.”

“When you live, you love,” she said. “When you love, you learn and when you learn, that’s when you grow.”

Carol has stuck by the philosophy as the years go on. Marie also used to share the following, which are lyrics from one of her favorite songs:

"Why aren’t there so many songs about rainbows and what’s on the other side;
Rainbows are visions but only illusions and rainbow have nothing to hide;
So we’ve been told and some chose to believe it, we know their wrong wait and see;
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection, the lovers, the dreamers, and Marie …."

Hello Forever, Never Goodbye

When Marie signed off on a newsletter, she always put "Hello Forever." She never believed in the word “goodbye.” Marie’s legacy will live on at Community Kindergarten Of Methuen. Her belief that all children deserve an equal education will be the number one goal.
